Chuck Close Podcast Script
Chuck Close
Photographer
Painter
A photorealist who focuses his work on large scale portraits
These are self portraits
Or portraits of his Family and friends.
These portraits are constructed using a grid system, where each square on the canvas corresponds to a square constructed on a photograph
This allows Chuck to magnify his work to a massive scale
After a spinal injury left him largely paralyzed, he adapted his technique to a more pointalistic approach
From up close, his work looks like blobs of paint on a canvas
When you look from a distance his work takes shape of the faces he photographs
Chuck has face blindness
His work consists of portraits because he wants to commit images to memory of the people he knows and loves.
Music: bensound.com
This was my first experience creating an audio/video project to create a podcast and it was a fun and challenging experience.. I thought it was really fun to edit and create the file from scratch. I thought it was enjoyable to be able to a create twist on things such as how I wanted my voice to sound and what music to incorporate. The hardest part, for me, was timing the images to correspond with the script and the dialogue so that it told a story to the viewer. As a future teacher, I think this would be a great project for students to introduce them to video and audio editing. Also this this could be used to create teacher-led instructional videos for the students, to show demonstrations, techniques and lessons.
3 D Printed Project
This was another first for me, and something I have wanted to try for a while. Being able to 3D print something was a great experience and a unique and fun project. I have never used a CAD program before and it took a little getting used to but once you play around with it for a while it was not too difficult and it was pretty fun to create an object using the different shapes. I created a snail that was turned into a wearable brooch. I chose a snail because like the snail, I am slow and steady and a very patient person. I am glad the way it turned out and now I have learned a new skill to add to the list!
Animation Project
Stranded: By Chris Pekich
This was a very fun and rewarding project! I think animation is really cool, and as I found out very challenging. This story is about a surfer waking up in the morning to find fun waves breaking down the hill. to get down there quick he starts to ride his skateboard down the hill. It is not his morning, because as he starts gaining speed he hits a rock and goes flying through the air landing at the bottom on the strand with his surfboard broken in half.
